Data Sharing Policy
- Policy Statement
YUI Health: Journal of Health Science Insight supports transparent and reproducible health research. The journal requires every research article to include a Data Availability Statement explaining whether, where, and how the data underlying its findings can be accessed. Authors are strongly encouraged to share their data openly in a trusted repository wherever ethical, legal, and privacy considerations allow. Sharing data is not a condition of publication, but a clear and accurate Data Availability Statement is.
- Core Principles
- Data Availability StatementEvery original research article, review with extracted data, and case study must include a Data Availability Statement in a dedicated section placed before the References. The statement must reflect the actual availability of the data at the time of publication.
- Deposit in Trusted RepositoriesWhere possible, authors should deposit the data supporting their results in a recognized public repository that assigns a persistent identifier, such as a DOI, and cite that dataset in the article.
- Protection of ParticipantsData from human participants may only be shared in de-identified form and in line with the ethics approval and informed consent obtained for the study. Authors must comply with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection and with the data protection rules of the country where the data were collected.
- Restricted and Sensitive DataWhen data cannot be shared publicly because of confidentiality, clinical sensitivity, third-party ownership, or legal restrictions, the statement must explain the reason and describe how qualified researchers may request access, including the responsible party or data access committee.
- Code, Instruments, and MaterialsAuthors are encouraged to make analysis code, questionnaires, interview guides, and other research instruments available, either as supplementary files or through a repository, so that the methods can be evaluated and reused.
- Data CitationDatasets used or generated in the study, including publicly available data from other sources, should be cited in the reference list with the creator, year, title, repository name, and persistent identifier.
- Author Responsibilities
- Include a complete and truthful Data Availability Statement in the manuscript at the time of submission.
- Remove all direct and indirect identifiers before sharing any data derived from patients, respondents, or other human participants.
- Ensure that data sharing is consistent with the ethics committee approval and the informed consent given by participants.
- Provide the data to editors or reviewers on request during peer review, where this can be done ethically and legally.
- Keep the underlying data for at least five years after publication and make it available upon reasonable request if it is not publicly deposited.
- Inform the journal promptly if the availability of the data changes after publication.
- Example Data Availability Statements
Authors may adapt the following examples to describe their own situation accurately.
- Data openly available in a repositoryThe data that support the findings of this study are openly available in [repository name] at https://doi.org/[DOI].
- Data available on requestThe data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
- Restricted dataThe data are not publicly available because they contain information that could compromise the privacy of research participants. De-identified data are available from [name of institution or data access committee] upon reasonable request and with approval from [ethics committee name].
- Third-party dataThe data were obtained from [third party] and are available from [third party] with its permission. Restrictions apply to the availability of these data, which were used under license for this study.
- No new dataData sharing is not applicable to this article because no new data were created or analyzed in this study.
- Recommended Repositories
Authors may use any repository that provides persistent identifiers and long-term preservation. The following general-purpose repositories are free to use and assign a DOI to each deposited dataset:
- ZenodoOpen repository operated by CERN for data, software, and other research outputs.zenodo.org
- FigshareRepository for datasets, figures, and supplementary materials in any file format.figshare.com
- Open Science Framework (OSF)Platform by the Center for Open Science for sharing data, protocols, and preregistrations.osf.io
- Harvard DataverseOpen data repository available to researchers from any discipline and institution.dataverse.harvard.edu
- Mendeley DataRepository for research data files with versioning and citation support.data.mendeley.com
- Repositori Ilmiah Nasional (RIN)Indonesia's national repository for research data, managed by BRIN.rin.brin.go.id
- How Data Availability Is Handled
- SubmissionAuthors include the Data Availability Statement in the manuscript and confirm it in the submission checklist.
- Editorial ScreeningThe editor checks that the statement is present, complete, and consistent with the study design and ethics information.
- Peer ReviewReviewers may assess whether the available data support the conclusions and may request access to the data through the editor.
- PublicationThe final statement is published with the article, and any linked datasets are cited in the reference list.
- After PublicationConcerns about the availability or integrity of data are handled in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethic and COPE guidance.
