  1. SubmissionAuthors submit their research articles for consideration, accompanied by a signed statement affirming the originality of their work and acknowledging any sources used appropriately.
  2. Plagiarism checkUpon receipt of a submission, the editorial team performs a plagiarism check using Turnitin, comparing the manuscript against a vast database of academic and online sources.
  3. Similarity reportThe detection tool generates a report highlighting sections of the manuscript that match existing sources, with a percentage indicating the level of similarity detected.
  4. Editorial evaluationThe editorial team carefully examines the similarity report, considering the extent of matching content, the originality of the work, and whether similarities are appropriately cited.
  5. Decision makingBased on the evaluation, the editorial team proceeds with one of the following:
    • Proceed to peer review: the similarity index does not exceed 20% and similarities are appropriately cited. The manuscript continues to the peer review process.
    • Revision: the index exceeds the threshold or similarities are deemed unacceptable (e.g., unattributed verbatim copying). Authors are notified and requested to revise their manuscript.
    • Rejection: in cases of substantial plagiarism or fraudulent practices, the manuscript may be rejected outright, with a clear explanation provided to the authors.
  6. Final evaluationAfter authors submit their revised manuscript, the editorial team conducts a final evaluation to ensure the revisions are satisfactory and the similarity index falls within the acceptable range.

By implementing this process with a 20% threshold using Turnitin, YUI Health: Journal of Health Science Insight ensures that all published articles maintain high standards of originality and academic integrity.
